12/10/2023 0 Comments Canon r5 rec 709 lutI do not use the Ninja V (I have the Ninja V+) for anything. No LUTs, which are imprecise and approximations. I use the DaVinci transforms from cinema.gamut and Clog3 to REC709 (and sometimes to HDR gamuts and gammas). ![]() I have posted lots of these videos in this forum. Leaving aside theory, I have shot scores of videos on the R5 and R6 using cinema.gamut and Clog3 and have excellent results. The description above of cinema.gamut makes no sense - a gamut is just a color space and doesn't darken or lighten. Or you could try Rec2020m if the HDMI cable is Capable of handling Rec2020 then you will get the best results you can get, that is until some one develops a HDMI cable capable of handling Cinema Gamut. If your not experienced with using LUTS and Shooting LOG, i would start off by shooting BT709 it works awesome and much easier adjust your exposure and color grade your images way easier. How ever i have not tested Rec2020 yet which does provide wider range then Rec709 but not as much as cinema Gamut, not sure if Rec2020 would have the same problem, i may try it just for the research of it. That is my experience with Cinema Gamut.Īlso i don't believe that there is an HDMI cable that is capable of streaming the Cinema Gamut color space from a Canon R5 or R6 correctly, there is so much more information that i think things gets lost in the translation. That is how terrible that is and even if you expose your shot 3 stops above the shadows are still too dark. However, it must be applied as the Camera LUT and then the appropriate LUT applied on top of it (at least in Final Cut Pro X)Ĭinema gamut may be more flexible but Cinema gamut looks terrible, it darkens the image like 25 to 30% more brings up the shadows so much you can't even see anything well it looks so dark where it shouldn't.Ĭinema Gamut is for people who are shooting a scene that is over exposed like 3 or 4 full stops over exposed. In addition, if you've got older Atomos products (I also own a Ninja Inferno and Ninja Flame) it's particularly useful as it emulates the Ninja V's legalize function. They're particularly useful using older Ninja products.
